Johannes Botes, PhD
Johannes Botes is an active trainer, facilitator and mediator who has been involved in the conflict resolution field since the late 1980s. He is currently an associate professor with the Program on Negotiations and Conflict Management at the University of Baltimore. Dr. Botes has also researched, published and presented at different conferences on a variety of topics within the field, including the role and impact of the news media in covering social conflict and conflict resolution,conflict transformation (the political, social and economic changes that are needed to end intractable conflicts) and informal conflict management roles (how professionals and everyday people who do not necessarily see themselves as conflict-resolvers, play such roles in the course of their daily work and lives). He holds a PhD in Conflict Resolution from George Mason University and a M.A. in Communication: Journalism and Public Affairs from American University.
